Karna Small Bodmann spoke on March 18th, 2010 on “How a White House Official Became a Novelist and Created a Small Business”.

Karna spoke of her experiences both leading up to become an author and getting published for the first time.  She explained not only the struggles to get published, but shared how she used simple networking to get the word out about her book.  She explained the struggles we all go through from different aspects of our business and engaged the audience to share her experience in how networking is a powerful tool.  Karna reinforced why the N.A.P.L.E.S. Group is so important in todays world and how each member of the group brings something unique, not just a business, but relationships.  One more point she discussed was while the odds are against anyone getting published, with some of the most well known authors, before they became famous, submitting several books before getting one published.  She learned from others and did not let the odds, finances, or any other barriers stop her from reaching her goal.

Members came away from the meeting inspired and with a renewed vigor that is much needed in this economy today.  Working together as a collective group allows us all to move forward toward our goals and dreams ultimately achieving success in our own right.  Learning about each others' businesses allows us all to work as a sales team constantly watching for opputunities to help not only our own businesses, but other members of the group.  In any group setting members using other member's services helps everyone, but it is more than just purchasing and selling within the group.  It is about experiencing what each member has to offer and after utilizing their services and becoming a satisfied client you become a walking testimonial for their business.  You unknowingly talk about the quailty of product or service to people when you talk to your prospects and clients.  This helps legitimize their business because you recommend it.

Another key to the N.A.P.L.E.S. Group is learning what inspires each person within the group, discovering what they need and knowing their perfect client.  This creates an environment for cultivating prosepects throughout the group and the quality prospects we all need to survive. This famous quote says it all "Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full--pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back."
